Hi following on from my previous post about clutch issues

ive had the car checked over and it seems both the front and rear crank seals are leaking
with the rear (possibly) causing the clutch problem as lots of oil draining onto the bell housing

would explain why the clutch wasn't actually slipping or appeared to be on the way out

any how ive had a quote on the price of dropping the engine and replacing the clutch + fly wheel + oil change
in both engine and diffs, for£3,600

is it me? or does this sound overly price for the job

whilst i know the dropping the engine is time consuming (for the clutch) the engine would be on the bench to work on the both crank seals
so easy job and not pricey parts

most prices ive read up on (for the clutch anyway) is around £1,200
i was maybe hoping to get the chains done with the engine out, but at that price i defiantly cant afford to do it
which would be a shame as the chains would be (there to do) if the engines (on the bench)

plus would a competent mechanic be ok doing this? the guys i use for my performance turbo 4x4 have had no problems looking after the car
over the many years ive owned it, including engine and gear box out
just not had any real issues with the S4 over the last 2 years to have to take to them (do services myself as its easy)

im based in the cardiff area so if anybody can advise on some where id be very great full (including beer) Please help

Anyone got an idea as to a estimated price on this?

or anyone in/around the cardiff area who maybe able to do it

also as per my post, my own mechanics are very competent, i dont think the work needing doing would
require a full on Audi specialist, or would i be wrong?

As most dealership mechanics know very little about (specific) models
they mostly only go off work manuals, any thoughts or advise?
