I'm getting some strange readings from a friends S6.
    The original reading was:
    16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
    P0102 - 35-00 - Signal too Low
    17987 - Throttle Actuator (J338)
    P1579 - 35-10 - Adaptation Not Started - Intermittent

So they replaced the MAF which then caused a whole bunch of other issues.
Basically the car seems to be idling in limp mode and feels like it has an intermittent miss fire. When the I read it after these symptoms it was showing error which I did not copy thinking that they would come back but basically a message that it was running lean on bank 1 and 2.
After clearing the codes and going for a short drive I got these codes.

    18048 - Internal Control Module
    P1640 - 35-10 - EEPROM Error - Intermittent
    17972 - Throttle Actuator (J338)
    P1564 - 35-10 - Under-Voltage during Basic Setting - Intermittent

I did a TB adaptation ran the car and got this message.

17549 - Load Calculation Cross Check
    P1141 - 35-00 - Implausible Value

So I decided to unplug the the new MAF and got these 2 additional messages

    16497 - Intake Air Temp. Sensor (G42)
    P0113 - 35-00 - Signal too High
    16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)
    P0102 - 35-00 - Signal too Low

Then just to be sure I connected everything reset everything and went for another drive and got this.

    18048 - Internal Control Module
    P1640 - 35-10 - EEPROM Error - Intermittent

All the while the driving experienced remained fairly consistent not a definite miss but enough to know that it is not running all cylinders correctly some of the time (a little worse with no MAF).

Buy a proper VAG part, you cannot trust that. What is the cars engine type code?

Just did a quick check and it seems that this is the incorrect one as its compatible with 0077 133 471 J or JX and the part that comes off the car ends with an H. Since this is a very high mileage vehicle the owner wants to spend as little as possible any ideas on a good make that is cheap?

You cannot fix a cheap car based on its value when new, you stand less chance of fixing an expensive car (it was when new) using cheap **** parts, a car does not become cheaper to repair as it ages, it gets MORE expensive. If they cannot be bothered to do it properly, throw in the towel now and scrap it or give it to someone who cares.
