    Hi everyone!

I have a Golf MK4 Estate, it’s a real tank and I love it! Thing is, I need two keys; one unlocks just the drivers door, the other unlocks all passenger door and boot, and does the ignition. Not sure what happened, but assume the drivers door lock was replaced at some point.

I’d like to get all of the locks replaced so that I just have one key. Sometimes, if I unlock/lock the drivers door, everything opens, sometimes, just that one door. Same in the passenger side. When I unlock the boot, all but the offside rear door unlock, too.

I love the little quirks but it gets frustrating. Is this something that can be done? I assume the ignition would need changing, too?

It’s only got 164k on the clock so I figure it’s worth sorting to get it right..?!

If you go to your VW dealer, they can order you a new lock barrel without key, tumbled to match the key the car was built with, these are ordered by VIN and take about 7 to 10 days to come through, I get the part number as 107 837 167 KE which is £122.75 and you may need the frame that goes behind it 3B0 837 886 K as Golf 4 door locks can be a serious PITA to chnage, if the metal locking ring inside the door (which is inside the aforementioned frame) you understand why these are evil.
