If you want to get to the bottom of this dpf present or not issue post a close up picture of the exhaust tailpipe, if it's got a working dpf we will see the metal in its natural colour minus a little bit of soot, if a dpf is not present it'll be black soot.

If soot is present perhaps then we could look for remnants of the system

I’m not sure what work it’s had done at all

The fault code only seems to have come up when I turned the engine off then switched the ignition on to plug in the code reader is that makes any difference

The stutter only happens between 1800 revs and 3000 then it clears up

Does anyone know what turns off if you disconnect the maf on a vw

Worth chucking in a boost sensor ?

    I disconnected the maf sensor

It does have a small stutter but nowhere near as bad as normal almost perfect in fact

The coolant temp fault has come back and I’m confused as can’t see
    Anything obvious with vagcom
The temp on the display behaves fine the heater heats up quickly

If the Air Mass Meter is disconnected the ECU reverts to a default base map using other sensors. If being disconnected changes the way it runs it doesn't necessarily mean the AMM is at fault as the default map could cover up another error as it sounds like it is running lean. Remember you will have generated an AMM open circuit code.

If you do fit a new AMM, only buy it genuine from VW or TPS, if you fit an aftermarket one, even Bosch, and you still have the problem you won't know if it is the new AMM or not.
