had 130 bhp passat for a month all was great till today emissions workshop came up on dash for a few seconds and the yellow engine light which remained on, there was no loss of power and turning ignition on and off and has notreturned did not reset it. after quick blast up motorway stopped. restarted car after about 20 mins later it did not come on again and has stayed off for the rest of day...it may not be drastic but after bad experience with eninge management on vauxhall vectra i now break into cold sweat at the first sign of yellow lights on dashbord anybody any ideas please

    thankyou Carl.

Did you get to the bottom of it?

I have just replaced the timimg belt and associated hardware on mine. Drove it tonight - not very far - and just as I pulled on to the drive, I got the 'emissions workshop' warning.

I was told by a local garage( not ***********) that this fault is normally caused by the egr valve told it would not need replacing just decarbonising, took this off the car spent an hour cleaning it(couldn,t have done any harm) only for the emissions warning to come back the next day. a mate then connected it to a diagnostic and the error code related to the water temprature sender replaced this and had no more problems. Here are a couple of links i found when i was researching my problems hope they help.

    Good luck
