    Hi everyone,

I've just joined in the hope to find some help with regards to my Q7 2007 3.0L.

Had her for a few years with no troubles at all, just the usual sometimes slow when starting in the cold - its been like that since i had it, changed the battery, got the ground cable replaced and it seemed better.

But suddenly one morning it wouldnt start, even through i drove it the day before fine.

The problem is it simply wont start at all, i put the key in turn the ignition on, all the electrics come up fine but when i try to start the engine nothing happens at all, doesnt even crank over. Ive ran it often over the last few months with no issues at all.

The only thing to point you in the right direction was it would display 'ESP Fault'. I borrowed a Snap On Ethos device and connected it to the car, cleared the codes and re scanned - and since ive done that it now says 'ESP/ABS Fault' instead?

Ive attached the photos of the Snap On Ethos but all i can see which may relate to the car starting is the Glow Plug errors across all the plugs, but would they all fail at the same time? There are other errors but these dont seem to be related to the car starting, but im no mechanic so may be missing something silly.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or advise what i can do next at all?

    Thanks for your help.
    Foz.

Hi I have a similar problem where now and then it won't crank, but if you drive it the esp tyre pressure and EML come on, at the same time the gearbox makes a bang/jolt, it goes into limp mode, when scanned it comes back with gearbox ECU no communication, did you sort yours? Cheers

It could be a weak battery.

Hi there, yeah in the end it was the starter motor, it had died.

Had to get it towed to a local garage who then replaced the starter motor and was fine after that - but the codes gave no indication at all that was the fault, quite misleading.

The starter is outside the ability of the diagnostic monitoring to this day. Those are a horrid job to do as well… really hard to get at.

ah that makes sense then why there was no error codes for it.

Had to get the local Audi specialist to change it for me, £500 for the whole job, said it took them a few hours in total, think you have to remove the engine mounting bolts? No way i couldve done that on my drive
