Article quoting interview with Audi CEO would suggest the C9 will be launched in 2023 (maybe not ship until earlu 2024?) and I guess the C10 will be electric only and be launched by 2030

The next model in 2023 will be the facelift C8. The electric only model will be the C9.

That would mean a 10 year lifespan for the C8 which would be very long. C6 was launched 2005, C7 in 2012 and c8 in 2018

C6 in 2004, C7 in 2011, C8 in 2018. Facelifts have come out 4 years into the generation, which means we can expect to see the C8 facelift in 2022/23 just after the A8 in 2021/22. The announcement hinted at the all electric model coming before 2030. The facelift C8 will run for 3 or 4 years, although with such a huge change with the C9, they could hold out another year. I'd expect to see the C9 in 2026/27. It will depend on what Mercedes do with the E Class and BMW do with the 5 Series and how the main markets develop their charging network. They could end up offering smaller 2.0 petrol and diesels along side electric powertrains instead of larger ICE engines. It's exciting to see what happens.

I'd expect the likes of the old C6 V10s to be desirable in the future with us petrolheads wanting a weekend liquid dinosaur burning toy.

I think now that we are the cusp of the ICE ban many cars will end up with a longer lifecycle than we have been accustomed to. Development money will be diverted to new BEV platforms whilst the timing of releasing new models will coincide with the run up to the ban, availability of charging infrastructure and buyer acceptance. Doubt the C9 if launched in 2023 will be anything other than a heavy facelift of the C8 (like the recent A4 facelift) the C8 will only be 5 years old at that point

Audi have released details of the A6 etron concept that apparently is near identical to the production model slated for production late 2022. So by the look of it this will sell alongside the C8 for a few years until the current car fades away circa 2025
