So just before Christmas I was given an early present in the form of smashed driver side wing mirror as a passing car just couldn't keep away from mine.

I was lucky that the damage was limited to smashed mirror and housing etc rather than any body work etc but it still made me feel like ripping that driver's head off

Managed to get a stick on mirror and some duct tape to get the basic functionality back. Last week picked up a used wing mirror off ebay, currently getting it painted and fitted on. Fair to say i was not impressed but not a lot I could do.

Bad luck but it happens. In the context of life, its a minor inconvenience. Staying calm and safe in a difficult situations is a blessing. Better luck next time.

Agree 100% and it was the fact that the other driver didnt even stop after causing the damage which was more frustrating. Although i do understand why they didnt stop. Sheer cost of plastic housings had I sourced them from Audi would have been in the region of £700. Not a happy camper here. But thanks none the less.

Yes, the cost is silly money. I remember replacing the indicator repeater on the door mirror. That part alone was £50.

Well I had that part working perfectly fine haha, other plastic housings were kaput. Even the electric folding mechanism was functional too.

Self dimming are definitely on the dearer side. Maybe search for outside the dealer network to get a good price
