Greetings all. Just joined the forum, hope everyone's lockdown is going well.

So I've had my 2017 A4 for a year now and will be due it's service this summer (first under my ownership) and I think it's had maybe one or two Audi services previous to me owning it.

Now my question is the car is three years old and out of Audi warranty. So should I continue (at least for a another 2 or 3) with Audi dealer servicing or go for independent Audi specialist? Also, since there's no physical service book, how would getting it "stamped" work if servicing from outside of Audi?

Apologies if some (or all) of this seems like dumb questions. Thanks

Within the 3 years I got mine serviced with Audi dealer.
Outside 3 years it's up to you but the electronic book that is logged in Audi database can be stamped by any franchised dealer registered with Audi (not only Audi dealers). I have used one called German Audi Care here in west Yorkshire (I'm sure there are many more).

My car is a MY17 ( registered in 2016), it's out of 3 years but I bought the extended warranty, so now year 4. does not effect servicing.

I would say get a quote from Audi and from an independent .
Audi to fixed price servicing (here plonk your reg in)
yourAudi Fixed price services < Account < Audi < Audi UK

    This is from mine
    Brake pads (rear)£185 AUDI
I got my pads (named OEM) from Euro parts £40 and a garage registered with them fitted for £37, total £77

    Front wiper blades£42
I got mine from Amazon prime (Bosch A639S 3397007639 Set Of Wiper Blades) £23.50 self fit.

First 2 services I had were part of a PCP package so totally free. Next one due in 18000 miles (or 2 years) will be from who ever gives me the best service and price, as you can see from my details, Audi fixed price service, on a flexible plan (every 2 years or 18600)
    Annual maintenanceOil Service£230
Oil and Inspection Service with Pollen Filter£390

I think a franchised Audi dealer will beat a £230 oil change.

No question is ever too dumb

Most garages with diagnostic equipment can access the service record. Additionally it pays to keep a record yourself, digitally held receipts on your computer or the old fashioned folder of invoices. It really pays when you come to sell, even trade in.

For me, I have yet to find anyone sing the praises of main ******** but oddly we all want Full Audi Service History. Beats me? Service specialists survive on reputation, not support from new car sales and other Audi incentives. Makes the choice for me very simple.

My experience with main dealers is fairly consistently dire. I have to use them because I lease. You can rarely talk to the technicians, only the invoice handlers. They are not mechanics and tend to be better on bulls**T than knowledge. Even though they price match round here I go to a specialist every day of the week when I can, such as with the mrs's car. They all know the score re-OEM parts and oil etc.
