Hi, I’m looking at a 2018 A7 50tdi which has 21inch alloys and std s-line suspension, (not fitted with Air suspension). I’m just wondering if anyone has experience of this set-up? I’m concerned that it will be too hard. I previously had a 530d on 20’s (albeit run flats) and couldn’t stick the ride. Granted I live in Ireland in the sticks 😀

I found the 20 inch wheels on my S Line A7 OK but some people said the ride was firm. My new A7 has air suspension and 21 inch wheels and i find the ride on them the worst aspect of the car. Don’t think I would have wanted 21 inches on the S Line springs at all. It’s a personal thing but I’d keep to 20’s.

I cant see the point of going for oversized wheels and ultra low profile tyres myself. A smaller wheel with a slightly higher profile tyre provides a bit more sidewall flex adding up to better ride comfort.

    I think I'm missing out on life , I thought I was a big boy with 14" alloys on a Mk1 GTI .

How on earth did it get so far with the inherent dynamic losses .

Oh well best keep up with the Jones..

    Agree 100%. I have 18" on my A7 255 45 18 and that is low profile enough.

Very sensible , I think the absolute limit for any car is 19".

    It's a car not a steamroller .

The big difference I hear from people just going 1" smaller .

I personally have A7 50 TDI with 21 inch alloy wheels and it's super comfortable. To be honest I afraid of them quite a lot but I get confidence after watching some reviews e.g. 2019 Audi A7 Review - Business in the Front, Party in the Back | Petrolhat.net
Maybe it depend what you try before this A7 on 21 wheels I upgraded from Audi A4 B8 on 19' wheels and without air suspension and I can say A7 is at least 1 level better. However experience may be difference from someone coming from s-class

I have a 2015 A7 Black Edition which came with S-Line suspension and 21 inch alloys. I came to this from an A8L which wallowed, big time. I fully expected the A7 ride to be too firm compared to the previous car but it isn't. Admittedly I leave it in comfort all the time but I find it a great balance between comfort and road feel.
