Hi all

I had this problem for a while and did plenty of searching online and say various posts about alternators, ignition coils and starter motors etc.
So I got the roadside rescue guy out and he fixed it.

The problem was the clip that secures the cable that connects the alternator to the battery was loose. It took about 30 seconds for him to fix.

When you're standing at the engine front on and the battery is on the right, the clip is down around the level of the bottom of the battery so about 12 inches down. The clip is silver and kind of forms a rounded square box shape and it’s only a couple of centimetres in size. It’s easy enough to see if you turn on the light on your phone. The clip was still there but the mechanic said it had come a bit loose and he unclipped it and put it back on and the car started straight away.

I’m adding a photo to this here but have added a written description above of the location of it in case the pic gets deleted

I just wanted to post here in case it helps anyone else and saves a lot of time and money.
