Hey all I have a golf mk4 pd130 recently had a head rebuild and new turbo. Car doesn’t smoke but seems to be using a lot of oil roughly 1litre to 500 miles of easy driving. Car is on 140k and has been serviced all its days. What could be the problem hear are their any common faults to look for. Thanks Martin

That is a lot, the VAG specified maximum is 0.5 Litre per 1000Km so half a litre per 620 miles. That you are not seeing smoke makes me think the engine is burning the oil as fuel so my first step would be to investigate the charge air system for traces of excessive oil such as this when disconnecting the lower intercooler inlet, sorry the pic is refusing to show.

Hi thanks for the reply. The car has had a new turbo and intercooler. Where would you suggest the oil is going to be? Thanks Martin

Car has just had a new turbo. I will double check is their anything else off the top of your head or could be. Also when starting from cold their is a slight misfire that I can’t get it the bottom of either after fitting new glow plugs full service etc

Yeah everything head wise is new and if good quality parts. Starting to think maybe a dodgy deal or a seal not sitting properly causing oil to get down through to cylinder
