My fathers VW UP was stolen off his driveway and recovered a couple of weeks later in a somewhat sorry state. As expensive and hard to find as parts are for these cars we have decided to fix it as the damage is not structural. However, a few days ago I discovered mould forming around the centre of the dashboard and on the front seats and the cupholder was full of what looks like brownish coolant that had dripped down from above the cup holder though is hard to tell as there were ciggy ends and all sorts discarded into it by the young thieves. The car sustained mild frontal impact , and air bags are still intact, but does anyone agree that the damage has probably extended to the heater matrix?. I've done a couple heater matrixes on Citroens ZX's that I've owned but do not want to tackle anything like that again!!. I don't have a picture as at the time it didn't occur to me until later that it was a split matrix.
