My Audi has had the AA out twice in recent weeks, both patrolmen have said it was a failed in tank pump. I changed it today but still not running.

I have checked the fuse and that is ok, but no feed to the terminals on the pump connector.

There are many relays near the fuse box and I have not been able to obtain a Haynes manual for this particular model, so I don't know which relay controls the fuel pump,

can anyone point me in the right direction please?

    regards

    Malcolm

It is up under the dash above the drivers right leg at position 6 BUT if there is a decent level of fuel in the right hand side of the tank, the fuel pump not running will not stop the engine because it isn't really a fuel pump as such. All it does is to create a suction jet effect in the left side of the tank and draw fuel from the right side into a swirl pot and keep the pot full where the VP44 on the engine draws the fuel from the pot.

When the fuel pump relay fails it is usually due to water getting into the plenum chamber fuse box and then dripping down onto the under dash relay and the symptom is stuttering when driving with a low tank. Make sure fuse 28 to the pump is OK and that it has power from position 8 ((lin3 87) and that the ECU relay is providing power at positions 2 (line 30) and 6 (line 85) on the board and that the earth ECU command signal is at position 4 (line 31)
