I've just purchased a RNS510 Sat Nav unit for a 09 Scirocco 1.4 TSI but need the security code. I've done some research and wondered what's the best route to get the code? Plenty of sellers on eBay offering the code via the serial number. Once I have the code is any other coding required once it's fitted in the car with the GPS aerial? Thanks in advance and apologies if this has been asked many times before.

Once you have the security code it should come to life. The RNS510 has a setting (DDP or BAP protocol) to work with either the older red-dot dash or with the white-dot display, and associated steering wheel. If whatever it was used in before matches your car then functions like navigation and media on the dash display should work (esp. if you have "full dot" highline display), but not if it is the "wrong era".

If you have a telephone module already installed it should work with that too with no other coding IIRC.

You can also code things like CD player support type of upholstery for sound quality, etc but they probably matter less.

Many thanks. I've just got around to fitting it after obtaining the code via eBay and a GPS aerial. In the radio aperture a previous owner had wired in a 'Bury' device. Possibly for telephone connectivity as there's a mic near the rear view mirror but I've no idea how to get that working. I'm guessing of you want a phone to work with a RNS 510 there's a module to fit.

This type of mic snaps in behind the little holes that are usually in the front interior lights control panel above dash: NEW!! VW Audi Original Paragon 3B0035711B Bluetooth Microphone RNS510 8L1862373A 4251263604566 | eBay. That then runs to RNS510 if you just want to voice control it by by doing things like saying a navigation destination while driving (needs the button on steering wheel to make it useful ). Alternatively mic runs to a Bluetooth / telephone module under the passenger seat (or similar) that will look something like this BUT the model numbers vary depending on what era of car and phone it works with (so don't go ordering this ): VW GOLF MK5 2006-2007 BLUETOOTH INTERFACE BOX 3C0035729E 4058659659083 | eBay. Then you need a simple plug in wiring loom, and if coding setting correctly in car.
