Hi I use the Hex-V2 with software 21.3
There is a beta 21.7.1 that now allows to unlock the SFD protection, you will still need to have a gecko account or someone that has Odis and geko to generate the sfd unlock serial code.
I also use obd11 and this too can be used to read all the control units....it uses it's own personal obd reader...

I have had a similar issue since I got my Golf MK8 in August 2021. When driving I hear a kind of double thud sound from roof speakers then the little world and person symbols disappear. This happens almost every day but comes back after 10mins or so. Sometimes the SOS call system fails and says need to see a garage. If I then leave the car it’s fine the next time I go back in.

Mines the same. I just ignore it now. The benefits of connectivity are very limited anyway.

Mine is booked in tomorrow for a software update which they claim will resolve this issue which has been available since July 2021. Can someone point me to any screens I can view and make a note of to see what changes have been made (software versions etc)? Thanks!

Just be aware that those details only relate to the media system software. It is very possible that the software updates they will be doing are to other systems behind these and therefore you may not see any changes

Had the car serviced today and they did a software update. The update installed was 91BU-2021-070-26-W-OCU Control Unit Update 01. Will be interesting to see if this solves the issues of losing connection to the server and also the random disconnecting of the emergency call system, accompanied by the double "pop" noise. Not holding my breath mind you

The 91BU update resolved all my greyed out globe issues. Hope it works for you too, John.

Mine triggered off the SOS System failing enough times that the car booked itself in to get sorted! That was a few months ago now and whilst the random system failures are pretty much gone now, I still get the odd double pop when the car starts and the entertainment system appearing to completely reboot itself. Still also got instances where the DAB radio can take about a minute to actually start working.
