Realised yesterday that our car has not connected to the server since 2/11, none of the journey data has been uploaded to My Connect. Now in fairness it has not been used a great deal because of the lockdown but clearly we are back to the problem of a few weeks ago. Hopefully another full reset will not be required.

Hi hope you don’t mind me jumping on this thread too, but you have stopped me from tearing my hair out so thank you!! I’ve had the same problem with our new golf last month, rang the service department of or dealer and they had no idea at all. Suddenly days later the greyed out world came back in and it’s been fine ever since until Monday then the world has gone greyed out again but it’s actually letting me log into my profile still MOST of the time. Yesterday it wouldn’t play the radio at all, today when my phone was connected via Apple play all okay this morning and for first part of my journey then after stopping, locking the car for ten mins then coming back to it there was a black screen on Apple play even though my phone would play through it I had to access everything through the phone. Think I will email VW too so there are more call logged

Perhaps @johnsimcox and @Badge2020 could try a soft reset (press the on/off switch at bottom left of infotainment screen for 20 - 30 secs until the ‘welcome to Volkswagen’ message appears) and let us know whether or not this restores connectivity?

Ok, thanks for that. Rules that out as a possible solution. At the risk of stating the obvious, I take it you’ve already made sure the privacy settings are at the least restrictive (share my position)?

Just had a look, it’s nothing I have changed anyway but I’ve just tried to get onto that menu option to check, it works around for ages then says unable to start Apps and services

Used the car today and all is working as it should. Not done anything since it stopped working so it would seem that what ever was the issue at the Server end has been fixed (for now). Noticed there is also sw download to do but assume that is the one discussed by others already

Great - at least you avoided having to do a tiresome hard reset!

VW must have done something on their side to restore some connectivity for vehicles.

On a side note, mine is still displaying a hazard assist/Car-2X unavailable warning - even when connected to the internet - maybe that’s linked to what you said about the update they’re working on for the emergency assist systems!

I’ll also keep you posted on what my service centre say to me on Monday. It will at least be reassuring to know if it’s the same message you got from yours!
Update from my last post: I brought my car to the service centre today and they did the checks that VW Digital service told them to, but they found no updates were required. However, after the infotainment system somehow fixed itself a few weeks back, the globe icon has become greyed out once again. The service centre insist they didn’t apply any updates.

Has anyone else’s Globe icon become greyed out once again recently?

Ours has remained connected since 30 October (see post #9).

Did the Service Centre see the globe ‘greyed out’? If so, this is not normal and they should take responsibility for getting it sorted.
