How to replace complete wing mirror assembly? Help I'm stuck at the last hurdle...

Hi all,
I need to replace both wing mirrors. Passenger side intermittent folding and the driver smashed on a tree!

Anyway, I've managed to remove the door card; unbolt the mirror from the door but now I'm stuck because the wiring harness has a pop out plastic fixing behind the metal panel facing you

On the Passat B8 the wing mirror sits on the door, the harness is pushed through a hole on the outside of the door, through the shell but somehow fixed in the hollow of the shell?! With a clip!

Any idea / pointers would really help.

Hi James, probably far too late for you but may prove helpful for other members. I believe the clip inside the door that you are talking about can just be seen underneath the bottom of the square connector block which the mirror harness plugs into. You may need to pop the block off to gain access to the clip. To do this pull down the top clip and when released the block pulls up and off. Hope that is useful.
