Hi newbe here so sorry if this has been raised before.

I've a new shape A6 Avant awith Xenon lights and travel to Europe 3 / 4 times per year. Usually dont bother to convert lights but this year, because we are doing a huge chunk of driving at night, feel that we should convert.

So when spoke to Audi dealer was surprised to learn that it costs £60 to make the simple change. This means could be spending c.£200 per year on changing lights. Does anyone have any thoughts about this and any cheaper changing option?

Unfortunately not - something to do with the way the lights work - Audi recommend getting them adjusted.

My thoughts too. In fact have just spoken to a technical person and they have said that they use to fix the stickers!! So I guess its a trip down to Halfords.

You'll probably find RobDob that the £60 is for your "Audi trained Technician" to go through the highly skilled and technically evolutionary exercise of removing the £5.99 stickers from their backing and lovingly applying same to the headlamp lenses.

The highly trained Audi tech has to:
    Unplug the battery,
Take out the power steering resevoir,
Remove air cleaner housing and wait for it......

Flick a switch so that the lights point the other way!!!!!!

I was going to say, on Xenon lights, the adjustment is controlled with a switch somewhere on the back of the lights. Dealers charge by the hour, so if they need to remove bits to get to said switch, that's where the cost is.

So if you can do it yourself, all the better.

On the stickers - I don't think these work correctly due to the self-levelling light system.

The remark about the stickers was a little tongue in cheek, but it can't be a difficult job because Audi charge £99/hour +VAT, so the £60 won't get you very long!
