    Hello,
I am looking for some advice, my quattro has recently developed a problem.
It was running fine, but there was a small leak from the fuel line after the main filter, I tightened this up and fixed the leak, but now the car will not take throttle.
It will start every time and idle nicely for a few minutes, but then will die.
When it is idling if the accelerator is depressed the idle weakens and stalls, but if the pedal is released then the idle recovers.
Does anybody have any similar experience or suggestions?

Sounds like poor fuel delivery or pressure. Try a new filter first as I doubt you will have access to K-Jet fuel pressure testing equipment. If it has a pre filter before the pump I would get rid of it as you can no longer buy them and they are not needed.

    Hi Crasher,

The filter is brand new [which is what caused the leak in the first place] but I do have a second boxed spare if you think that is the way to go.
I have checked the pressure before the KE, this is in excess of 7 bar [limits of my guage] I do not have the facility at the moment to monitor pressure during engine operation.

The fuel pressure is measured between the centre of the metering head and the Control Pressure Regulator by taking off the link pipe between these two points and fitting a pressure gauge and tap to replace it with the tap to the metering head and the gauge to the valve. With the tap closed you can see system pressure and with it open, the control pressure at that time. The system pressure should be around 4.7>5.4 Bar. The control pressure (vac hose on) warm is 3.4>3.8 Bar . I don't have an MB KE-Jet here at the moment to show you, just a K-Jet KV Coupe GT.
