EVERYTHING is a trifle odd at the moment, quite a surreal time that eclipses even the dark days of the 70’s.

Hello Please excuse the delay, family and other stuff got in the way!!

It is a BAM engine code. (I am not 100% electrical minded) But when pointed in the right direction I can usual follow given instructions. If you can guide me in the direction I will give it a go, Thanks

Have you got your VCDS back now as I am interested to see if it is possible to communicate with the engine ECU?

Yes I have (please see my other post 180bhp Non starter!!)

I will try and get over to the 225bhp BAM car Sunday and will let you know (the car is still stranded 15miles away where it broke down during the lockdown)

    Thanks

    Hi Crasher,

Well after one heck of a delay I have now got VAGCOM back and managed to recover the car home (at least I can pop out and check/test stuff!!)

First reading with Vagcom, good comms with the Engine ECU and fault codes found:

    Address 01: Engine Labels: 06A-906-032-APX.clb
    Part No: 8N0 906 018 AE
    Component: 1.8L R4/5VT 0001
    Coding: 05710
    Shop #: WSC 00000
    VCID: 74E7BAF5446ABCE1DB-515E

    2 Faults Found:
    16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
    P0322 - 35-00 - No Signal
    18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30
    P1602 - 35-10 - Voltage too Low - Intermittent

So fault codes logged I completed a DTC clear cycled the ignition/tried starting the car (Still none starter) I completed a second fault code read:

    1 Fault Found:
    16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
    P0322 - 35-00 - No Signal

    P0322 - never clears!!

When the car first stopped running, I noticed that when the ignition was cycled the fuel pump never kicked, this has been replaced, along with the crankshaft sensor

Any idea greatly received, I am wondering if the TT has decided to suffer from the sudden broken wire syndrome??!! somewhere??!!

If the crank speed sensor does not provide the ECU with an RPM signal it will not start, G28 failure is not uncommon.
