    Hi all.

I have just purchased an A6 2.5TDI Auto 2001 with 118000km on the clock (LHD originally from Italy).

It had the navigation plus system but no CD Changer.

I purchased an offical second hand Audi CD Changer (from ebay) and plugged it into the 13pin socket in the boot. When I turn the stereo on, it does not recognise that there is a CD changer fitted (just says Check CD Cartridge). The cartridge will not eject.

Also it came with an Italian Tele Atlas travelpilot DX CD but when I turn on the navigation, it just says illegal CD.

    Any ideas?

If the cartridge will not eject, it's probably got jammed. Which may mean there are disks also jammed in the mechanism.

Does it make any noise at all when you press the eject button?

If you slide a thin stiff piece of card under the cartridge, and CAREFULLY wiggle it around, you may release the cartridge which might show you what's wrong.

    Thanks for your advice Froggy.

To be honest, there is no noise at all from the CD Changer once I plug it in. I worry that the CD Changer is dead or that the lead from headunit to boot is dead.

I will try your idea with the card anyway.

    Cheers,

I managed to get the cartridge out from the Changer but no sign of any problems.

I wonder if the headunit needs to be coded to the changer?

I will visit my local Audi garage tomorrow to ask for help.

The CD changers are not coded. Well, as far as my knowledge goes anyway. If somebody else knows feel free to correct me. Mine was plug and play, i bought it from e-bay.

    Update.

Took my Audi inot local Service Centre this morning.

They confirmed that the headunit and lead was fine and the problem was definately with the actual CD Changer unit.

I will have to contact the seler on ebay and reurn it.
