Totally confused now! I’ve never seen a relay in this position in all the years I’ve owned this car, I don’t mean this being rude! The only 2 relays I’ve seen is position HHZG a relay with no53 & position KL75 relay with no460 on it. Car is 20l gt tdi BKD engine. What exactly do these certain relays do?

I see now I did a typing error on the engine code previously. Please except my apology.

Yes the BDK is a 2L SDI version of the BKD, to be honest pretty stupid of VAG making the code easy to mix up for a similar engine used in the same car. Private message me the cars REG so I can look at the specific wiring diagram.

It is a type 1K1 262 with a BKD engine, GRF gearbox and was built 21-09-04 as a 2005 model year car. I will try and look into the relay positions later.

Hi! Just to update & also maybe help other people with the same fault as mine being a intermittent non starter & fan running on full speed. After changing ignition switch, ignition relays, battery & spending hours on checking all wiring it finally come down to a faulty ECU which as now been replaced & reprogrammed & all starting up & working fine for now. Thanks again to Crasher for all your help & suggestions as always.

Faulty ECU's are very rare, you were unlucky.

Don’t know if this correct or if I should start a knew thread but here goes.
I’m having intermittent starting problems with an 06 golf 1.9 tdi. Been remapped recently to around 150 bhp. The engine with go through the motions as if it’s about to start then the oil pressure light comes on then after a few more seconds the engine kinda crawls into life. It’ll start 1st turn for a few days then back to the same problem again of turning over then crawling into life. Mechanic can’t find any faults on the pc. He’s replaced a non return valve re: fuel. Done a full service. Checked fuel pump under back seat, all without faults , he has it away today to change camshaft sensor hoping this with sort it out. Any advice is very welcome
    Ps: I’m not mechanically minded
    TIA

The oil pressure warning is nothing to worry about, you will get that under long cranking with no start. What is your chap using to read the fault codes?
