Golf Knocking noise help please!

Thanks for all your replys guys sorry its taken so long for me to get back to you but...

i did the powerflex bushes on the wishbones but the ride was horrible and as far as i can tell didnt fit properly as the wishbone could move without the bush moving. ive fitted new wishbones on and the car feels better.

i have done the inner anti-roll bar bushes and ARB link rods and the noise is still there.

the next thing is or strut top mount bushes / bearings as bigCol said if that doesnt cure it then i wont be posting again because i will have imploded!

I have a similar problem with my 2001 Golf v6 4motion. A knocking noise in second gear when starting to accelerate.

had the same problem turned out to be the mid exhaust mount had come of the exhaust.

i have drove over 15k in a year very harshly so i know i need to replace all bushes and links because the car feels like it is loose not how it used to feel like.
i will be taking pics of the jobs in question so as to help other members.
may i also add that i am the most picky or fussy person when it comes to my beautiful golf.
ie no expence spared on parts as i am a believer of look after what you have and the return is priceless.

hi have not got any pics but it is the bracket just infront of the rear wheels.
need to be up on ramps to get to it to tack weld it back to the exhaust.
