my anniversary wont start after accident pls help

2002 1.8T AUQ 180BHP
hi i own a 25th anni silver petrol and it got crashed the other day and wont start since then,
the airbags have gone off aswell maybe this is reason for it not starting ?
anyway took it to local garage for diagnostic check to try see what problem is but mechanics snap on diagnostic tool could not connect to ecu for engine
would connect to other things like safety to try clear airbags fault but not engine can anyone help please

i repaired a 1999 tdi a few month ago and found the diagnostic check could not connect to ECU but cleared other fault codes , the lad i sold it to had to buy another ECU, quite expensive, but anyway that was on a tdi, could be different with yours , try getting your ECU tested

may sound obvious but have you checked fuel cut off

wheres the cut off switch? i thought the were within the ecu in event of accident i could be wrong please let us no as it comes out of body shop tomoz and was gonna get it vagcom the specialist mechanic says that the airbag control module needs the code taken out of the old one and putting in nw module before it starts is this true?

i dont no have a look in manual i dont have a golf yet waiting on it as only put a deposit down
