    Good afternoon

Looking for advice relating to my car. The outside temp reading has went to +60 but outside is actually around 0. At the same time the rear heated windows and heated mirrors stopped working and it takes ages for the car to heat up. Checked the usual fuses etc but they are all ok. Could these defects all be linked to this outside air temp sensor?

Your help would be greatly appreciated

It`s a quite common issue, that the temp sensor fails. It`s located behind the licence plate at a corner. For the testing try to disconnect and reconnect the sensor. (Part nr for the sensor should be 3G0820535).

What is the best way to access this sensor? Is it by removing the undertray or can part of the grill be removed? My car is reading approx 4C low. I thought I would disconnect and reconnect to see if that fixes it and failing that replace it.

I removed the undertray and then some bolts holding the bumper. That gave me enough space to reach the connector.

Thanks,, just as I expected. I will get the part ordered and then wait for a dry day. It annoys me seeing -1C on the display when it's about 3-4C outside.

Fixed. Easy job if you don't have massive hands. Simply reach through the holes in the grill to detach and reattach the new sensor.
