    hi thanks for the offer but west wales to manchester is a bit of a hike :0) i think i might be winning on cleaning it keep putting vinegar and fairy on it and sqeezing it out and aqua vac with the carpet lifted upright .cat litter on floor and houshold dehumidifier running inside the car

    failed to remove diesel smell so have purchased a second hand carpet .now has anyone got any tips on how to do this .i have found instructions to remove centre console .remove seats look easy enough.and have worked out how to remove door cill trims is there anything else i need to know ..how is carpet fixed by foot pedals and under dash area please is it just pop of clips ??

    Suggest you search for Erwin and download the relevent section of the workshop manual

    i have decided carpet has to come out i managed to get a replacement used one £ 100 .i am now planning removal i have found a good post on how to remove centre console ..this looks a nightmare .but doable .seats look straight forward ,and door cill trims look simple enough any tips from your experience .i have not yet worked out how it is fixed up under dash .is this just old school poppers ? any help greatly appreciated

    Hi Chris,
    Once you have removed all the side trims and centre console you will need to remove the rear seat bench too as the carpet is folded over just under the edge. There will be a small trim iirc by where the clutch pedal would normally be covering the lower part of the steering column. Simple plastic nut hold that on. Also the foot rest needs to be removed and again a small nut should be holding it on.
    Nothing else holds the carpet down apart from its own weight.
    Luckily audi have put a cut in the carpet in front of the gear lever and its not tucked under the heater box.

    carpet is now out ..only took me 2hours thanks to your help and this excellent post i found from the other side .. Remove Center Console and Center Trim for Audi A7 C7 have cleaned all hard surfaces with fairy and vinegar and will leave it overnight in case i have missed any trapped diesel.and attempt to put it all back together

    hi i might need some help .i can still smell diesel fumes in car .
    rear bench seat replaced as soaked in diesel as was carpet(sponge in rear footwell was soaked and some in front drivers footwell. passenger side had nothing ) both replaced. i cleaned all floor area etc ,no signs of diesel there .also in spare wheel/battery compartment totally clean now.
    sniffed all inside car specially rear seat backs (as spill was in boot area) cannot find anything .but when i open door in the morning can smell it. any ideas where else it could be ???.

    There are dampening panels made of a bitumen type material all over the floor, its possible that these still diesel under them which could have seeped in. Knowing for sure is difficult unless you sniff along each one.
    If you have removed/replaced every other sound dampening material then there cant be much else left...
