    Hi All

I’m In year two 67 plate. Love the car and still only has 15900 miles on the clock.

What’s the general opinion of buying the car after the pcp term ends?

I’d like to think I could keep a low mileage example which I’ve owned from new rather than giving it back, if it makes sense.

    Cheers

    Hi Andy,

Glad you’re enjoying the car. Picture reminds me I need to wash mine!

My 3 year PCP elapsed in June and I decided to buy it outright, as extending with an additional PCP from Audi/VW was expensive.

My initial intention was to do it for a few months until I put a new order in (not Audi as dislike the touch screen route they’ve got down). 3 months in and I’m not seeing anything that is any better! My car is still only on 19,000 miles so I am leaning towards keeping it for another 2 years.

It just seems to have a great combination of performance, comfort, technology and space.

Me too. My pcp is due in April next year and I'm just going to buy it. I still love it and even though the face-lift is on our door I still want to keep it...

Mine has 40k on the clock so still low mostly but I've spent a lot on it so for me it makes more sense to get more from it. Plus I still love driving it!

Hello fellow PCP'ers! Maybe we should start a dedicated thread for those on PCP?

I am just about 2 years into a 3 year deal now, I am getting close to the point where I can do a VT.

So I am in a quandary whether to continue or not. My car's OTR price was around 70K, it has a lot of options. 2 years ago I sold my business, had some spare cash, and thought that this was my one chance to drive such a car, so I put down 18K as a deposit on a 3 year PCP.

Over the 3 years, I will have sunk nearly 42K into it... I am at the point where it has so far cost me 34K (over 2 years) and it will cost me another 8K to keep going for the final year.

So I don't know whether to quit now or keep going - I am not sure I want to buy the vehicle at the end and not sure whether to roll it into another contract, so I am worried about building up equity in year 3 that I will basically walk away from if I don't roll it over, hence why I am thinking about doing a VT as soon as I am out of negative equity.

It is a fabulous car, but the amount of money I have sunk into it will have paid for some fantastic holidays and I am not sure I can keep pumping in all this money every month.

I managed to get a copy of the BVRLA fair wear and tear guide, which the industry uses to asses vehicles being returned at the end of their lease/PCP contract, you can download it from my personal web space here if you want a copy: http://ilexclose.co.uk/docs/BVRLA_Fa...Tear_Guide.pdf

I think one of the main thing to watch out for is damage to the alloys, they advise that combined scuffs/scratches over 50mm are not acceptable, fortunately the rim protectors on my Hankooks have done a great job of protecting my alloys.

I’m in agreement, I’m not sure I want to sink circa 30-50k cash in to a car with the diesel taxes likely to rise ?

My car is likely to be way under the mileage allowance so with the spec, mileage and careful ownership I’d be stupid not to keep it

Anyone know of any major tech issues? Like Gearbox, suspension? Etc to be aware of?

    Thanks for the responses guys

I think the only issue I see a lot of is the coolant leak issue near the Inlet manifold. I know a few guys on here have had it.

Overall most things are safe. They are well built cars (in my opinion anyway)

I was tempted to trade in as car is under mileage and will be based on my future mileage when my pcp ends for an sq7/sq8 but I figured I'd never get the spec I have now. I can pay a few quid here and there and get some new trim pieces for the boot that have had a rough time, and other than leather wear on seats it's as good as new.

I agree it's a great combo or performance , tech and comfort.. I'm sure the new ones are as good if not better but I still love driving it, it moves when I need it too and I feel safe in it with the kids etc.

I'll review again in 24 months..

    Andy.

+1 on the coolant leak, I just had that at 3.5yrs ownership. Covered by extended warranty though, which IMH worth it given high cost and number of complex systems on the car. May be a keeper - read other threads sounds like the newer revamped model’s engine/gearbox combo has some lag issues (I believe Q7 50TDI not SQ7). Can recommend the ABT owner upgrade if you want a bit more oomph!
