    Hi All,

i understand it’s possible to swap my non heated steering wheel to a heated one but was wondering if anyone has done this and what parts are needed apart from the steering wheel with the heating coil
    and coding.

Can I use the airbag that’s currently in my non heated steering wheel?
Is a new slip ring needed or additional wiring or harness needed?

    any advice much appreciated.

    Regards

    Mubs

Hi Mubs, I looked at this with Andy a good couple of years ago and it was then working out fairly expensive from memory.

Cheers Nemo. Cold hands it is for us up North. I know satnav systems would do it for approx 2K but thought I could possibly do it myself assuming there were no issues with angle sensors.

Yep, its doable. Bit of extra wiring, new steering control unit, steering calibration and coding - but doable. (and heated steering wheel of course)

AFAIK you can use the same airbag.

As Andy says you would need different control stalks which is part of the steering control unit/angle sensor.

I currently have a flat bottom, which Audi don’t heat, but after a trip to Sweden in the winter, I do like cosy hands while driving.

I managed to bag a heated steering wheel to install but driving in summer, I haven’t felt the urge and I quite like the look of the flat bottom, so I am in 2 minds.

    Yes airbags are interchangeable.
