Hi

I got an Audi A2 1.4 Petrol AUA for the daughter to use while at Uni and have started to look at an EML showing.

It started out with:

16786 - EGR System P0402 - 35-00 - Excessive Flow

So I did the usual and cleaned it with carb cleaner, it wasn't that bad in there, refitted and tried to reset it using VCDS but it wouldn't adapt. I used the output test to check it was activating and it was.

The codes changed to:

2 Faults Found:
17812 - EGR System
P1404 - 35-00 - Basic Setting not Performed
17847 - Potentiometer for EGR (G212)
P1439 - 35-00 - Error in Basic Setting

Reading on here I tried using 075 with 5 short bursts to max revs but field 4 would not change to test OK. Took it on the road to high revs but no difference.

The codes now read:
1 Fault Found:
17847 - Potentiometer for EGR (G212)
P1439 - 35-10 - Error in Basic Setting - Intermittent

So I'm wondering if that means the basic setting has indeed happened?

However the car also shows several intermittent faults:

ABS Brakes 1 Fault Found: 01314 - Engine Control Module 004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

01176 - Key
07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent
01314 - Engine Control Module
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent
01760 - Power Steering Control Module (J500) No comm. with Engine Control Module (ECM)
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent

01320 - Control Module for Climatronic (J255)
49-10 - No Communications - Intermittent
01565 - Luggage Compartment Light (W3)
29-10 - Short to Ground - Intermittent
01565 - Luggage Compartment Light (W3)
36-10 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
01368 - Alarm triggered by Luggage Compartment Switch
35-00 - -
01371 - Alarm triggered by Door Contact Switch; Driver's Side
35-00 - -
01561 - Rear Left Door
61-00 - Won't De-Safe
01562 - Rear Right Door
59-10 - Can't Unlock - Intermittent

Are these others red herrings to the EGR issue or do I need to consider an issue with the ECM?

Thanks for any help.
