Hi all sorry if i come across as clueless because that's exactly what i am.
I spotted old Audi A3 recently under a nice layer of green algae.

Sat for 6 years due to ecu issue.

I've tried my bro in laws fancy diagnostic and it can read ECU info but disconnects when i attemp to read the codes.

Seller says if glow plug light goes off or flashes it will start.

I can't get this to happen.

A local enthusiast tells me I can override the glow plugs.

Is this true if so what do i do.

Car turns over all electrics seem fine.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Snap Off useless scan tools. It is not at all simple to physically override the ECU control of the glow plugs, the controller can be operated in output tests if the scan tool works. The glow plug lights behaviour suggests a faulty ECU relay, its number depends on the VIN.

Isn't the number there on the pic. I can get the ECU sorted free my pal is ex main dealer VW mechanic but he's 100 miles away i need the glow plug light out to start it.

Could low fob battery be an issue it's sat in a barn for 6 year

It is unlikely to be the ECU, the key fob battery has nothing to do with the immobiliser and no the VIN isn’t there, it starts WAUZZZ8PZ????????
