Hi everyone, my infotainment screen drive mechanism is packing up and the screen makes terrible noises as it winds out. I am a bit disappointed as the car is only 45,000 miles and used mostly long /very long journeys, so the number of actual screen deployments is very low. It is a very early FL car from March 2015.

I am certain I have seen this problem mentioned/discussed in a previous thread, but furious searching has yielded nothing. Is anyone able to point me to the thread, or had their screen drive mechanism replaced? If so, was it done out of warranty as goodwill or charged for? (A USA thread mentioned $1300 to repair!!).

    Thanks for any info.

Sorry to hear that, at such a low mileage I would push for goodwill at a minimum. It's an expensive job as the whole dash needs to come out. Best of luck and let us know what happens.

Actually its a £600 part. You can buy the motorised frame on its own and refit your original screen to it. Only needs the dash vents and some trim removing. I'd buy a new mechanism off fleabay from a late model car and fit that.

Thanks for the info, Morski. It is at the "grinding" cogs stage currently but I will start the search for parts so I am prepared!
