    Hello all!
Before i start, i would like to say that this is a cheap trash car that i am not willing to spend big money on. I am a marine engineer, so i know my way around (and in) a big diesel engine, however i do not know much about tuning tiny car engines.

I have a vw polo 1998 estate (more like a seat) with a 1.7 sdi nightmare. i run this engine on pure waste vegetable oil all day every day but this should not change anything regarding my quest for the day.

i have noticed that the injectors are failing (various reasons, maybe wvo?) and i would rather scrap the car than to buy new injectors nozzles. I have 4 nozzles laying around from a 1.9 TDI, and i have tried these on the 1.7 sdi. the result? well, the engine runs just like before with the added bonus of a big thick black smoke behind me. I then changed to a K&N airfilter and there was a little less smoke. my quiestion today is, would it be possible to reduce the smoke even more by removing the catalytic converter? (not legal, yayayaya) i assume this would allow even more air to pass through the engine.

is there any chance this project might at all be successful with bigger injectors? or should i just scrap the idea completely.

Any help is much appreciated, and please don't comment to just say that i shouldn't remove the catalytic converter because it bad for the environment(i am full aware of that and have already taken it to consideration)

old post, probably the car has been scrapped.
I've run my B6 Passat on veg oil for the last 12 years and the car is currently on 265,000 miles.

    Things to note:
    1. you have to mix the WVO with diesel, no matter the outside temp: winter 50:50, summer 70:30 or 80:20 (wvo:diesel)
    2. the fuel filters in both the engine bay and the fuel tank must be cleaned regularly.
    3. empty the fuel tank regularly, every 6 months, and clean it, together with the fuel pump. Quite an easy job.

Do these things and the car will run as if it's on straight diesel. If you don't, then it will run, if you are lucky that it runs at all, like a bag of nails
