Hi. I did the work myself and bought a injector from PF Jones. £286 which included a £36 surcharge. You’ll need access to VCDS (Vagcom) for coding once you’ve replaced the injector.

thank you so much for the quick reply!

did the job take long? pretty sure the garages i've asked quote 4hrs ish labour.

I've found a reconditioned Siemens injector for mine for £150/175 if the old one is returned. I've a mech friend with a VCDS/crazy computer system that can do the coding. I am unfortunately not skilled enough to change injectors and i don't think the mechs in my work would do the work on the side. So i'd have to find a garage who'd do it for me with parts provided. I've been quoted £630 for the job from a local garage.

It probably took me 4 hrs using the tools I have at home so I’d imagine it shouldn’t take a garage more than that.

Four new injectors is the usual requirement and this normally renders the car scrap at £1892.35 a set plus installation.

It did run lumpy on idle for some time but 20k on it’s still running.
Whilst on the subject of 1.6 TDI’s, I seem to be losing coolant with no visible leaks🤦🏻*♂️I’ve read plenty of posts about the EGR valves including from yourself Crasher so that is going to be my next job when time allows🙄

djl78, on an EA189 CRTDI, with no visible loos of coolant but it is being used, check the casting number on the back of the head
