Newbie here. Cool forum so far.

I recently bought a B6 2L (96kw). Now this car has xenon lights but the other day a salesman said no they are not xenons but they just look like xenons. Something about a magnifying glass that covers the normal bulb.

I've attached a pic. These are xenons, correct? At night you can see the little blue/purple edge and I can clearly see how they auto level all the time. I thought with xenons there is no manual headlight height adjustment? (which I have btw).

I can tell you if you have xenon by your chassis number but you can't PM with less than 5 posts. If you wish, I will PM you my email address.

Well spoted, I missed that. To have xenon as an OE fit it must have headlight wash by EU law.

I'm in South Africa. No such law here.

The splitting of the light into blue/purple along the top of the light beam is standard for these projectors and does this even when you are running halogen bulbs.

When you switch them on, is it not the case that halogens come stright on, but xenons have a delay of about half a second? When i put mine on, they point downwards and then flick up after about half a second to a second.

All Audi A4 have the projector headlight unit you are reffering to..

IF it had OEM Xenons it would have washer jets. (world wide)

I would say it wont have.. but you can check by lifting thr bonnet.. and checking the rear of the headlight housing..

When you remove the back cover, if you can see a H7 bulb there not Xenons.

They are standard halogen healamps. If they were Xenons, they would as said have a square cover fitted in the bumper below the headlight which contains the headlight washer and also a warning sticker on the headlamps that you can see if you lift the bonnet which says 'Danger high voltage'. Also you don't have a headlight ajustment on the dash with Xenons as they auto-level.

But you can retro fit Xenons as me and Rick have.
