regarding your instruments, if you have satnav they do come with colour DIS especially the RNS-D and RNS-E,

do you already have a key that unlocks the immobiliser as if you do then the problem you are encountering is unlikely to be caused by the instruments.

have you tried deleting all codes and maybe a battery reset ?
Thanks for your reply. Honestly, I've not tried much. I only bought the vehicle about 2 weeks ago and I was driving a dirty diesel Passat until yesterday, in-which I finally got round to dropping that back with my brother in law. Now that I'm driving it everyday, I'll aim to fix as much as I can, as quickly as possible

I'll have a look under the battery. I didn't realise water could find its way into there.... mind you, I didn't realise it could find it's way into the boot, but it clearly has from all the green crud on the Sat Nav plugs. I'll definitely check the passenger footwell. I don't think it's wet, but it's always worth a try.

Ahh, well I learn something everyday. I thought I had seen Monochrome DIS with RNS, but perhaps that's VW's?

Yes, I have a single key that works fine. Interestingly though, when I put the non-programmed key in, everything shows up as expected on VCDS like the fact it's not authorised to start the car, however there is no immobiliser light on my cluster. I'm 100% certain my B6 Saloon flashed this when I tried and failed to start with the wrong key.... not sure if that matters though?

I'll clear all the codes and disconnect the battery terminal for 15 minutes.... Is this the best way to do a battery reset or do people still suggest touching the positive and negative lead together to drain any residual current??
