In this case it's a setting somewhere hidden in the MMI, as my interior light turns on

I'm with the OP here, you turn the engine off when getting home in the dark and the interior lights don't come on until you open the door - ie after you have faffed around in the dark trying to find keys, phones etc.

Once you open the door, interior and exterior lights all fully ablaze - but that's a bit too late.

I don't want to argue, I simply stated that my interior lights turns on when I turn of the ignition.

Me neither :-) apologies if badly worded at my end.

I've just checked in my MMI and there are options under "exterior lights" but nothing that seems to allow any tweaking of the interior options.

Maybe they changed it at FL time.

    No problem at all

Just an interesting thing, that it was never mentioned earlier. For me, it was logical to turn on the interior light, so never thought about it in my 2012 version. I know, that there is no option in the user MMI menu, but probably there is an option in the VCDS menu, as a hidden feature. I have just one idea. I know, that there is an option in the VCDS to turn off the engine if you open the drivers door, probably there could be an option: "when to turn on the interior light".

However, as I haven't got a VCDS, I have no idea where can you, or the OP find this option. Honestly, I never touched the interior light buttons, so I simply forgot, that there is a button to turn off/on the interior light.

On my 2015 car they do not turn on when I press the stop button. However pressing the button again (with foot off the clutch) turns the lights on and also switches off the radio, retracts the mmi display, turns off the exterior lights and unlocks the doors.

Is it possible, that the behaviur depends on the manaul/automatic gearbox?

Would expect the same in an auto if you don’t press the brake pedal. It is in effect the same as removing the key from the ignition lock in a non press button car

Do you mean, that I always press together the "Ignition off" button and the brake pedal? Yes, it's plausible.
