I had a missfire on my Bora V5 and having checked and replaced the coil pack and plugs , i read an article which suggested the ignition module / ignition amplifier was at fault . Having trolled the web i found VW wanted £200+vat but found a non genuine supplier and got the module for £98 ...result . I was still unsure if this would cure the missfire but sure enough once plugged in the missfire was gone . I hope this will help as i spent a good few hours investigating the problem and never found a the exact answer .

    Hi,

    First time post from Australia..!

My V5 Bora has had exactly the same issue - misfiring and generally running like a dog. Took it to VW and the 'diagnosed' the problem as a failing #2 plug lead.. Then they said they needed to replace the coil pack (AUS$850.00 fitted) I took it to a non authorised VW mechanic and he replaced the coil pack for AUS$450 ~

Problem still exists and the car went back to VW and they now say that the Ignition Control Module needs replacing for, (you sitting down) $1463.00 fitted.. They want $850 for the part and $613.00 to fit it..! Do you think they are trying to bend me over..?

Non factory part over here in Aus still cost $450.00..! Can anyone point me to a UK online parts reseller..?

    In anticipation...

    FIXED..!

Ordered my part from Motors in Motion (Nottinghamshire, really helpful bloke) last Monday and received it today. seven day airmail from UK > Australia is pretty damn good..! Installed replacement part which took all of 10 minutes and the car purrs once again.

Many thanks to this forum and this thread..!

Hi OJ, No worries and thanks for the initial thread..!

Another good thing has come from this thread; fellow poster guy_014 was having similiar issues. Through PM we determined tha his problem was more probably his MAF playing up.. He called around to my place last night, we swapped MAF's and bingo - his car ran like a dream.

So, the source of all things good..!

    Thanks OJ, thanks forums..
