I would run it in and allow the engine to idle before turning the engine off to prevent oil starvation to the turbine shaft as it spinning at 100,000rpm aprox.

It will last longer if allow the engine to idle before turning off,as for the performance it shouldnt make that much differance,so may be you have some other issue.

O dear another 1.8T oil sludge, did you clean out the rocker cover and the breather pipes as well,if not do it as the carbon build up will soon circulate back to the sump and block the oil pump strainer(repeat failure). If its a passat or a4 there is a modified oil filter which has a larger capacity that address this issue.Any way back to your problem, providing the g31 and airmass havent been contaminated by oil passing the turbine shaft from the old turbo i would have a look for any fault codes that may have stored.

Out of curiosity, is it all 1.8T that suffer from this sludging? And would a more frequent oil change with top spec oil stop or reduce it. Also how does it happen?
A4 Avant 1.9 TDi160 for when the weather is on the damp side - Sold after 9yrs. Now A5 3.0TDI Q Sport Coupe (310bhp/480ft/lbs - Yamaha R6 for when its dry and want some 'High octane Petrol' fun.

well id just like to say i took my Audi out for a nice little drive and its all good!!

according to the mechanic who fixed my car it is a common problem with sludging and a more frequent oil change would help also 1.8T's and set on a long service setting and use oil that is supposed to last these long intervals between services.. but he recommended a service every 10,000 miles to combat this problem.
