wireless charging box

Hi guys,

Took delivery of my preloved A6 on Sunday. I notice it has what looks like wireless charging box in the centre armrest area, but it doesn’t appear to charge my S7. Any ideas what gives with that?

I think it depends on the year and it’s only facelift that got this. I think from 2016 onwards wireless charging was part of the tech pack. 2014-15 had an aerial amplifier in that position.

Think mine might be an aerial booster then as it doesn't have the qi wording, but the rubber seat looks very similar and has a similar wirless symbol. I do have tech pack though but I'm a 2015 model facelift

Needs to have the words qi on the plate for it to be wireless charging. The picture I posted is from my MY17 A6.

Yep from the 2016 "update" onwards have wireless charging.

Yep, we were promised wireless charging at the facelift (it was in the press releases for the facelift). The price of the phone option was high enough to include wireless charging, but the charging function quietly disappeared by the time you could spec the car for delivery. They didn't reduce the price of the option, though.... Still, the cradle looks like it should charge a phone, which is something, I suppose.

Yep that is just the enhanced aerial version, no charging. Put it on the mat to boost the aerial signal apparently. Not noticed any real difference myself but who knows.

I tried the aerial booster when I got the car - it definitely works - but I always use Samsung phones so that I can connect via rSAP; I would have liked the charging function, though....
