Hi All. I have a 2013 BiTdi (great car) which I have owned since nearly new. Today I discovered water in the front passenger footwell. There is a line of water coming down from just below and to the left of the glovebox (on the left hand trim), so I do not believe it is coming from the door. I regularly clean the drains at the edge of the windscreen (I thought), but maybe I am missing something? It seems this has been a common problem on lots of other Audis (based on my search of the forums) but I could not really find anything specific to the C7 model? Has the knowledgeable collective got any bright ideas as to where I should check, before this turns into a bigger problem? By the way, it doesn't seem to have any other smell to it, so I can only assume it is rainwater? Many thanks in advance!

I had this when my car was a few months old.
Took the dealer ages to find and it was a silly rubber grommet somewhere that wasn’t seated properly. Think they said it was between the bulk head and the interior. Glad it was under warranty as the carpet and parts of the centre console was replaced as it was water logged.
Do you have the panoramic sunroof? These seems to be a problem if they haven’t been serviced.

I've had a similar problem twice with an A6.

On a C5 the water in the footwell came from a split condensate pipe fro the a/c unit close to the glove box. The water had taken out the airbag control unit which was under the carpet. To cut a long story short I paid for the airbag unit to be replaced. The dealer failed to find the cause of the flooding, which reappeared within days when I was abroad with the car, so I hunted down the defect and sealed the pipe with silicone sealer. The cure lasted for 4 years until I sold the car. A mess to clear up and meant driving for hours with the heater as high as we could stand with the a/c off.

On a C6 I had the plenum chamber fill with water which revealed itself as wet carpets. Leaves covering the drain hole were the cause. There were no immediate signs of damage except that 2 years later the electrics gave up the ghost and the car had so many code faults it was classed as uneconomic to begin an investigation for repair. The car was 10 years old at this time.

I only offer these comments as a driver to get to the root of your problem as there may be consequential issues for you in the future.

    Good luck.

    John.

Thanks for the replies so far..... So... I don't 'think' it is a rubber bung not inserted right, as this has only just started, and that sounded like a 'from new' problem. On the other hand, I am alarmed by the sunroof possibility, as I must say it could be coming down the door pillar. I have had my sunroof 'serviced' by Audi, but if the mount or seal really has split, as suggested in another forum topic, I agree it is barely fit for purpose! I will investigate that further, and will also double check the usual under bonnet areas (plenums . drain holes etc). It seems odd that it can leak through the sunroof though (when closed) as there does not appear to be any water ingress path past the seals, and water does not pool on the top there?

I have the exact same issue in my BiTDI. Took it to a VAG specialist and they striped the headlining down and discovered that the sun roof cassette had fractured and split apart on both sides where they are joined together. The garage think a small amount of water got in during the cold weather and then frozen and expanded causing it to split.
To replace the cassette it would have been well over £1,000 but the garage were able to re-seal the joints with some sort of resin. I was intending to sell the car but this has forced my hand. To say I’m pee’d off is a huge understatement. I don’t think it’s fit for purpose, my car is less than 4 years old.
