06 C6 Power Tailgate Issue

Hello all. Recently my powered tailgate in my 2006 A6 Avant has been playing up and it’s slowly got worse. Initially I noticed it wasn’t latching. I have to press down on the tailgate to get it to “click” in order for it to lock. It used to close firmly, now it is very gentle and doesn’t seem to latch. Maybe 1 out of 10 times it’s ok.

Also along with this, the tailgate won’t open on the first attempt. Sometimes it opens about a foot, and I have to press the button again, sometimes when I release the button it immediately bashes closed (only time it really latches on its own!!) some times it opens only an inch and re latches shut. Other times it works ok. You can hear a mechanical latch releasing when you press the button.

So in summary;

More often than not, it won’t open on the first second or third attempt. I have to just keep pressing the button until it finally opens. Sometimes I have to help it. Opens a little then bashes closed.

and

It won’t latch closed on its own, I have to press down on it in order to get it to latch, 98% of the time.

You need to change the mechanical motor, there is a known problem for our car. Change the motor and everything will be like new.
If you need the part number just give me the car info, I can take a look in etka.

Where are the motors located?

Do you have saloon or avant?
Sry I read now you have avant. There is only one motor located under the protection of the door.

You have multiple v clips that fits the carpet like protection on the door. Just look for some bolts that fits it on the door, remove them and pull the protection from its clips, firmly by hand.
