Kangarooing / Revs dancing at 1500 to 2000 in low gears multiple sensor error codes! Help!

Hi Folks,

well with the brakes sorted for now the next issue I have - the car kangarooing (wouldn't call it a shudder) the tacho dances (+/- 500) particularly in 2nd between 1500 to 2000 revs. I drives and pulls smoothly in all other situations.

Since we got the car it has had the issue it seems worse in warm weather but never goes away.

The car has always thrown up P3007 G40 cam shaft sensor error. I talked to our audi specialist and they said that is a rare sensor to fail and in his opinion unlikely (not seen the car). If it is that its a timing belt off job to replace the sensor. He asked when the belts were done (at 80k ish and not in my ownership but documented).

The audi specialist thinks it could be a timing issue is this possible?

Now I did a full scan after the brakes for a laugh and now getting a G28 crankshaft error and a P1588 solenoid mount error as well.
A quick google suggests that the G28 & G40 errors can be linked?

Any feedback greatly appreaciated or next moves appreaciated.

I don't really want the garage to start firing parts at the car if I can do some fault finding first!

Firstly the battery maybe low as there battery related errors on the scan.

The Can gateway list needs to be checked as it seeing 77 telephone not registered so the Bluetooth module may have blown the fuse or it may be dead.

The Engine sensor can be checked for irratic readings in the measuring blocks.

Google audi portal

The ABS fault maybe either a battery thing or its because of the Engine issues.

i wondered if the Abs fault was from the huge metal particle build up from the brake worn to the shin!

the battery I will check the age and enable the meter in vcds on the mmi!

i installed the Bluetooth my self I didn't code it wonder if that is causing an issue going by someone else I think all I did was enable it in the mmi

i see tonight that there is a bit of oil down the engine side and on the mount will need to see if it has caused any issues

as per a previous thread that was never concluded can you go into measuring blocks and check the kw/ crackshaft angle on my car to see if the timing is out?

The MMI battery meter is not worth anything.

Get the battery capacitance checked.

I have one of these Digital 12V Car Battery Tester Auto Vehicle Battery Analyzer AGM GEL MICRO-200 | eBay

Whislt a battery will charge the cca of the battery may have dropped so in theory is only holding half a charge or less.

I believe that the engine mount can be lived with the error and is not to critical.

Did you check the 77 module in the Can gateway? if not just do that to recode the gateway and that will solve the gateway error.

will check the 77 module with vcds at the weekend, clear all the codes and see what pops back up in a week or so as this week is getting busy!

the audi specialist I work next to were having a debate (friendly) with their neighbouring garage as to the best route specialist is wanting to do full new belt job and both G28 & G40 sensors probably water pump I'm sure circa £450 - £600 all in - could do without that pre christmas!
