    hi,

i'm trying to find out why water is getting into my drivers side footwell by the brake pedle, and have been trying to get the ecu cover off so i can see if the water is some how getting in that way through a dranage hole under the box but i'm having trouble getting the last bolt out at the back of the box under the cover of the wiper arm, dose anyone know how to get to it or am i looking in the completely wrong place to find a dranage hole. i can't find where the water is ment to come out and was going to take the wheel arch lining out to see if it was under there. if anyone could help i would be very greatfull.

    cheers

It is not under the Ecu box.It is beside it.There is a hole just near the firewall on the both sides.

As above, remove the battery to access the bulk head drain tubes.

My guess is that the tubes are blocked the water builds up and fills this space and leaks into the interior when it gets so far up.

I found mine had leaves blocking the end which didn't flood the bulk head, but I unblocked them from underneath as they drain to above either side of the gearbox. You'll have to remove the rear engine bell pan/cover to get to them so maybe easier to remove the battery.

Having said all this the ECU seals could be leaky but it would have to be alot of passing water to then get inside. But the more likely scenario is the blocked drain tubes under the battery and the water fills up submerging the ECU box.

Have you had a look down the side of the battery with a torch to see if you can see water? (Preferably with the scuttle panel (the big plastic panel that spans the bulk head) removed)

i did have a little look this morning and there didn't seem to be any water there.when i wash my car you can see foam coming into the footwell and when it rains it only takes a few mins for it to come in.but i just cant see where it is coming in for it to come out by the brake peddle.would there be any rubber seal around that area that needs replacing.

I've had this, the leak was not blocked drains in my case but the seal under the ECU box not seated correctly.
Sorted with a new box and seals, with smears of sealant.
