  1. A6 Allroad for 20k?

I will be looking for a A6 allroad soon to replace my Audi Q3. I have upgraded my caravan so need a heavier vehicle to tow it and the allroad ticks all the boxes. Would I be better getting a older lower mileage one or newer higher mileage one for my budget of £20000. I am also undecided wether to go for one with factory fitted towbar, and risk all the associated heavy pulling it may have done, or get one without and have one fitted myself? Any major things to look out for?. Thanks for any advice.

There’s no way to tell of an older low mileage or newer high mileage is better. The low mileage one could have been ragged to death all its life and the high mileage one could have been motorway mile muncher.
Only thing is the newer ones has newer tech and more toys as standard.

Same with the factory fit tow bar. Some folks fit them because they know it improves resale (although it is an expensive option). Could have been fitted and never used.

Thanks for the replies. It will be the 245 bhp I want. Is there anything I should look out for?

245 will be s-Tronic so back to the old "nut" of making sure it has evidence of gearbox oil changes every 38k miles.

You might want to be sure it has not been remapped... that engine can be made to generate a lot more power and torque but as one forum poster found out the gearbox may not like it (poor guy bought a used car and did not know it was remapped.. gearbox was playing up and Audi refused to look at it under warranty).

Make sure the air suspension behaves as it should - so try it on lowest and highest (Lift) settings and make sure it climbs or descends evenly and is level when it's done.

Apart from that should be pretty solid I think.

Ask. If it's a private purchase it's a bit more tricky as "comeback" is tougher but a trade purchase will have to tell you - and if they lie or just don't know it's still their issue.

Pity you're not looking for the 313 bi-turbo. I have one that I hardly use since buying a new VW California in June last year 28
