    Hi

In need of a bit of guidance ! I was about to purchase an a6 sline the other day and whilst looking around the car a guy who had viewed it 30 minutes before walked back in the garage with a deposit !

my trouble is , my heart was set on that specific car! Mainly because of how well looked after it was insude and out , but also the ride height ! i know sline springs are 20mm lower ? But the more i'm looking on auto trader and other garages they just dont seem to be as low , the odd one does pop up which seems to be sitting lower but theyre either too high in milaege ,out my price range or a different colour to what i want ! .

I was wondering if there was different drop options a customer could ask for when purchasing the a6sline brand new as thats the only thing i could think of after falling in love with the one thats now gone I've also considered that the prev owner may have dropped it a little lower themselves but i keep seeing others pop up online which Do seem to have that more "dropped" look.

I'm now thinking of just settling and picking an a6sline up and dropping it myself on aftermarket springs once i've purchased one , but dont want the drive to feel deminished away from audi's sline suspension setup .

    Btw , i'm looking for a a6 2.0tdi Sline around 3-5 year old under 50k

any explanatiions on my frustration would be highly appreciated, as my car search is never going to finish ! Ha!
    Tah

S line suspension wasn't all that anyway especially the dampers giving a harsh ride .

Find the right car again and fit Eibach Pro kit springs with OE Bilstein B4 or Sachs Super Touring dampers the ride quality will probably improve !

    Cheers for the reply !

I was looking at the h&r springs but i'll take a look at the eibach's ... i think i'm guna end up doing just that as finding a car with the perfect suspension set up or with the actual sline setup on a sline seems to be a little bit difficult !

I think from factory there was the se spec suspension(highest), sline(lower) then sport(lowest). Might have got the sline and sport the wrong way round but you see the point there's 3 and then the air suspension which is adjustable.
Sometimes if you are looking on autotrader or other websites it could be the way the car is sitting. My drive has a tiny gradient to one side and if you look at my car on the passenger side it looks about 10-15mm lower than the other side. Wheel design/size makes a difference as well to the looks

That is true i suppose , pictures sometimes dont do the car justice sometimes !or even makes the car look better than what it is ! Could be angling etc making the car look higher/lower etc ...

I suppose if someones bought the car brand new wanted everything sline however didnt like the tougher suspension they could change to the standard se ? ... that also might be the problem im facing which would explain the variance when im searching .

i wonder if there is any way of finding out the suspension setup when viewing the car ? vin numver difference or some sort of number/code hidden on the cae which gives away what setup the suspension is ? Hmmm

i'll probably end up lowering it slightly myself in the end . I'd just rather not spend an extra 5 -600 quid or more after forking out on a car

cheers for the repy lads !

I personally wouldn't lower it. I have the sline suspension and can't get into my parents driveway as it will scrape. Any lower than sline and you will be struggling with some speed ramps.
There's a sticker in the boot and that will give you the option codes fitted from factory. Don't know what the code is for sline suspension off the top of my head though.

Yeah, lower than s line might give problems. I have a s line and local tyre garage could not rise the car on their small lift to take all four tyres off. When I drove on the lift they could not slide in the support blocks (or whatever it is called) between the ramp and underbody. If it was lowered I would not be able to drive on the lift at all.

    Hi,

As standard, Audi fit "Sports Suspension" to S line and Black Edition cars. This is a 20mm drop from the standard suspension (which Audi call Dynamic Suspension). There is also a no-cost option to have them fit "S Line Sports Suspension" at the factory, and this is a 30mm drop from the standard Dynamic setup. If you look at the build sticker for the car, you'll see a code of 1BV if the S Line Sports Suspension is fitted. I'm guessing the car you saw had this option.

    Cheers!

Yeah my A6 C7 Black Edition has the S-Line sports suspension (and 1BV listed in service manual!), it certainly makes the car look like it's squatting low! :-) As others have mentioned, the lowered suspension certainly causes a few "hold your breath" moments when having to go up ramps.
