    Hi all,

In the last couple of weeks my car started to show up this message during a start/stop period. The symtom is always the same, the engine stops, but the "white slashed A" appears on the DIS, not the green A. After this, if you release the brake pedal, this message appears, so you have to turn the entire car off by pressing the "Start/stop", you have to select N/P, and then you can start the engine without any problem.

There is no error message at all, no problem, and the rediculous thing is, that this happesn approximately 1/5, so it's not a start/stop system failure.

Do you have any idea what can cause this thing?

    Thanks in advance

I had it when I took my seatbelt off while the engine was stopped on the start stop.

Thanks for the idea, but it's not working for me. You are right, I forgot to mention, that I did absolutely nothing, my foot was on the pedal, nothing was pressed, changed, and this thing happened to me

This may not be helpful but why don't you just switch Start/Stop OFF. There is lots of evidence that it saves very (very) little fuel and is just there so that emissions testing gets a small improvement in laboratory conditions.

It used to annoy me so much I'd reach across and switch it off when I got in the car. Then I had the VCDS mod to turn the default for Start Stop to be OFF... no regrets.

Thanks for the idea, I had this modification, so my car allows me to save the previous stage of the start/stop button, so I can let the start/stop off permanently. However, what I have now is a malfunction for sure, as earlier (before the modification, which was made more then a year ago) this issue never happened.

Therefore I'm wondering what can cause the start/stop system's malfunction IF you sit in your seat, and your only action is to press tha brake pedal and release it later.
