As you would expect, I'm new to this forum, but already a user of serval other VAG related forums...

So, my name is Alain (no suprises there) and I'm the unfortunate owner of too many cars!

I'll work my way through in age order.

1st up is my 1974 Volkswagen Type 181:

Although it currently looks more like this, due to a rather extensive 'retoration/upgrade'

Next up is what was my daily driver until yesterday. This is a 1987 Passat GLS5 Auto Estate. It's a bit of a shame to have to stop using it, but I'm just doing too many miles now.

The was predecesed by another 'slightly' rougher version, which got scrapped for annoying me too much...

Is the 'thing' an ex german military vehicle?

I can see a faint yet distinct badge on the front door.

Hi guys, and cheers for the nice comments.

The 181 is indeed an ex military vehicle, gun holsters, convoy lights the lot....

Although the restoration is is (very slowly!) undergoing should see it come out a fair bit lower and faster!

Sadly the passat is now up for sale (due to buying the Bora) which is a shame, but i'd rather see it used than just sat about!
