    Hi all,

I have bought my Audi A6 2.0TDI ultra last year.

Today, the car signaled that it needed an oil change in the next 30 days - at 7,500 miles.

I hope to get some advice here - do I need to go back to an Audi dealer for the servicing or can I approach an independent garage to do the servicing?

Will going to an Indie invalidate my warranty?

Thanks so much for your advice in advance.

    Cheers.

Hi mate....as has been discussed on here many times, you are perfectly entitled to go to an indy, in theory it does not invalidate warranty.
Best thing, I think, is go to Audi, stands you in good place for any good will issues that may arise, gets updates done and they will always price match.
Personally I have always had excellent service and value, but there are plenty on here that have had patchy experiences to say the least!

Thanks man. Mind if I ask how much did it cost you for your first service please? I'm not too far away from you and could possibly take the trip over.

I have the all inclusive service plan with this one so didn't pay, but think its a couple of hundred.
Sure others can tell you though.
Whatever they quote though, they have no problem at all price matching, I have done this with my previous cars/daughters A1/tyres etc on many occasions.

First service is just a quick oil service. Dealers will be around £200 and around half that at Indy. All dealers will price match so you can get that lovely stamp on your service book.
You can save some money if you supply the oil. Dealers are charging anything from £10-20 a litre of fully synthetic. You can buy it for around £30 from factors. If you use an Indy then use Audi filters.

Lincoln Audi happily price-matched a local indy, saving me over £250 on what they were going to charge (full service and gearbox oil). I got their confirmation in writing before taking it in for the work though. Luckily I did, as they 'didn't have anything on their system'! Needless to say I paid what I'd be quoted
Absolutely nothing wrong with using an indy though, but would agree that getting Audi to do work at indy prices is great for any future good will.

To protect the warranty and avoid any issues would you ever have to claim under the warranty then you need to ensure the independent uses parts that are exact equivalent's to those that the dealer would have used and these are listed on the invoice
