Yes they are stretch bolts, and must be replaced after use!

Are they really stretch bolts for the ASB engine? And has anyone feedback about the injector washers sold by a seller on Ebay called The diesel Bob?

Yes they are stretch bolts (WHT 004 923 B £3.48) and you can get the Bosch rings F 00V P01 009 for less than £2 rather than £14.10 from Audi which takes the ****. Don't forget the O rings WHT 000 884 which are about 60p retail from Febi. We had one come in a few weeks ago with one blown out and the bolts had snapped, someone else had done the seal but not used new bolts. We had to call out a specialist engineer who had a difficult time getting the remains out and there is a lot of stripping down invoked.

Thank you for that, and can you confirm the specified torque and is it plus 90 degrees after?

I am a bit confused, it was some time ago when I changed the injectors myself and I could not remember stretch bolts holding down the injectors, I have just been watching a video of injector removal from an ASB engine and saw no stretch bolts, just two 10mm nuts holding the injector against a spring plate, I remember magnetising a 10mm socket to make sure the nuts, when removed did not fall into the engine. I still have my VAG slide hammer fortunately.

I've just done a little Google on the ASB engine, and it seems this is an early version of the 3.0 with different cylinder heads. it looks like the injectors are held down by spring plates, held in place by 2 nuts on studs. It's unlikely the studs are stretch, but it is possible the spring plates might have to be replaced, although I haven't got a factory manual for the early engines.

The ASB always used that system.

Finally, after all this time, I found a retired local man who used to be an Audi vehicle engineer in the UK, now retired, found the fumes leak on the right hand side (as you look at the engine) inlet manifold. He says that it is a common well known fault which he has had to repair many times in the past. Both inlet manifolds complete with motors were changed by Audi when I bought the car in 2011, I had the fumes issue since 2017. I have ordered a new manifold, did not need the motor, 106 Euros from Oscaro, plus delivery. This issue was so important I was close to selling the car, when working it has got just about everything I want. When the car was new it cost 63,000 euros, I paid 20,000 in 2011, now it is worth only about 3000. It has everything, manual gearbox, equipment, comfort, power and even economy. We live in the country and when I go shopping, a round trip of about 70 km the car achieves 5.7 litres per 100km or better than 49 uk mpg. Cross fingers the repair works!!!
